  • Ich möchte nicht mehr leben,
    Möcht' augenblicks verderben,
    Und möchte doch auch leben
Für dich, mit dir, und nimmer, nimmer sterben.

Schubertíada 2025. Programme

Song of the week: Là-bas, vers l'église (M. Ravel) - D. Fischer-Dieskau, K. Engel

Vilabertran

When I review the complete programme of the Schubertíada, I pay attention to different things, step by step. I first counted the Lied recitals. This year, there will twelve and a half (I will explain later this “half”), which will be concentrated in the first week of the festival, while in the second, there will be mostly chamber music. Next, I look for Schubert appearances [...]

Song of the week: Heut' nacht erhob ich mich um Mitternacht (H. Wolf) - D. Fischer-Dieskau, H. Klust

Un lit défait – Eugène Delecroix

Song of the week: Ständchen (J. Brahms) - S. Connolly, E. Asti

Ständchen im Mondschein - Carl Spitzweg

Song of the week: Am Bach im Frühling (F. Schubert) - K. Krimmel, A. Bushakevitz

Jasmund

I could have borrowed the title of this article from one of Charles Dickens's works, Great Expectations, because 1816 for Franz Schubert was a year of hopes and expectations. However, his projects did not come out as he had hoped, and the subsequent disappointments ended up causing a change in his life.

Emigrants. Last glance - Eugène Laermans

In 1874, the catholicos Gevorg IV founded a seminary in Etchmiadzin, in the cathedral premises, which was the religious centre of the Armenians. The head of the Armenian church established that every year twenty orphans who stood out for their intelligence and willingness to study were chosen to receive in the seminary the education that their situation did not [...]
